I'm proud to announce the formal launch of pulverTV, our 24/7 "Indie Internet TV Channel." At pulverTV, each week we are creating 12-14 hours of our own original programming. In addition to our own shows, we have been working with over 40 producers of independently created Internet TV shows across a variety of genres and we have included the shows from these producers in our daily program schedule.
Until the launch of our 24/7 programming, pulverTV was the exclusive home of the “The Jeff Pulver Show” which is a live technology show I have been hosting since last April. The Jeff Pulver Show will continue to first air LIVE on pulverTV and will then be scheduled for re-broadcast on pulverTV. (My next LIVE show is Wednesday, February 6th at 2PM EST / 2000 CET).
I have been exploring long-tail Internet TV since August 2006 when I first started working on Network2.tv. I first got the idea to turn pulverTV into a 24/7 operation while appreciating the possibilities of personal broadband broadcasting and thinking about “What would Ted Turner do today if he was just started out in Television?” I started thinking about pushing the limits on the practical and possible. After speaking with Amit Shafrir about this, he introduced me to Ariel Schwartz who agreed to come on board and help make pulverTV 24/7 happen.
With the tireless efforts of both: Ariel Schwartz (Producer / Programming) and Andy Lipson (producer, Jeff Pulver show and the person responsible for the day-to-day operations of pulverTV) and after some real hard work, we got to the point where we are today. Along the way I also met with BlogTV who agreed to be a sponsor.
One of our goals with pulverTV is to provide a platform for the Indie creators of Internet TV to get their shows discovered. Alongside this goal is our commitment to provide quality programming on a 24/7 basis. We are committed to community and promise to listen to all comments and suggestions as they are received.
Over the next few days and weeks look for the navigation on the pulverTV site to improve. If you have your own favorite Internet TV shows that you would like to see air on pulverTV, please contact that show's producer and ask them to contact me. Or feel free to just suggest the show to me.
Over time I hope there will be others who are also committed to this medium as a platform to build out Internet TV channels. As this space evolves, my hope is to roll up my efforts and the efforts of others to be part of a 24/7 Internet TV Network.
I would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word about pulverTV to your friends. And if you have any suggestions on how to spread the word about pulverTV to a wider internet viewing audience, please feel free to also contact me. Your ideas/suggestions will help shape our approach to the future of pulverTV.
At pulverTV, we take Indie Internet TV...seriously. :)
